Alberto García-Alix traveled to the Balearic Islands for the first time in 1974. His first negatives of the islands date from 1981, although his closest relationship to the Balearic Islands began in 1989 when visiting Formentera, an island to which he has returned from that day on.
In “The closest I came to paradise” there is a collection of photographs taken entirely in the Balearics, between 1994 and 2010, impregnated with hedonism, with which García-Alix manages to convey a great sense of freedom.
The book is a co-edition published by La Fábrica Editorial and Es Baluard, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma.
