The book collects the first unpublished photographs of Alberto García-Alix. The first volume includes 2,154 photographs taken between 1975 and 1981. They show the life and environment of the author at a historical moment for Spain, of great political, social and cultural upheaval, such as the Transition.
The first volume of the collection covers a period of seven years (1975-1981) marked by the death of General Franco and the emergence of the so-called Movida Madrileña. In this period, Alberto García-Alix’s photographs show the first CNT rally after the civil war; one of the first demonstrations in Spain for the rights of homosexuals, lesbians and transsexuals; the birth of youth subcultures or the effervescent cultural activity of the Madrid Rastro; and also his start in drugs.
There are seven years that begin with the photographer’s debut behind the camera and continue until the celebration of his first individual exhibition at the Buades gallery in Madrid. The second volume of the “Archivo Nómada” collection will collect the years from 1982 to 1986.
